During this pandemic, I felt very distant from my boyfriend of 1 year and 6 months. We used to be in a distant relationship. I know he is also suffering losses in his manufacturing business but there was a time where he used to be with me from morning till the end of the day with sweet good night messages. Here is my problem, we are from different religion it seems though we have the same citizenship. My parents won’t accept him at all cost while his parent already knows about me through him. I don’t want to go against my parents and cause trouble as they have been going through a lot in the past few years with my sister’s marriage. I love him but it seems like he won’t have the quality that my parents like. I was warned by my mother that I will be thrown out of the house if I went to him. I was out of the country when the pandemic hit hard and was in confusion about whether or not to come back home. During that time he won’t even ask me how I was doing or whether or not I am coming back home. He was so cold at that time. when asked later, he says its due to PUBG. which is silly excuses. adding those reasons and denial of my parents, I tried to break up with him several times but failed as both of us love each other a lot. recently I sent him the text of our final breakup and he won’t reply but just see it. I thought we will marry each other later in the future and gave myself to him both physically and mentally. I am sad but have to do it. still something doesn’t feel right. He won’t have a quality that my mother wants in her son-in-law. This worries me a lot also thinking about our future. I am so messed up. Did I do the right thing?

Convincing your parents would require a lot of efforts and tough times, and it would be very important that he shows a lot of support, but from his attitude it shows that maybe he doesnt want to go through the messy stuff despite of the fact he loves you, after breaking up people mostly thing something is wrong specialy if the took the initiative and more so if the other person didnt react, maybe call him and confront for a final closure, I might be wrong but dont overthink.

Thank you for your response. It’s means a lot. Your response was such a relief to me. I don’t have any other friends to share my emotions right now. It is so hurting.
I called him (during first and second attempt of breakups) and talked to him about my parents’ denial. He gives me hope saying he will convince them later after a few years. But I am damn sure that my parents won’t listen to him. Thinking why to let him wait and later disappoint him, I texted him that we would rather break up. Moreover, after a few attempts of the breakup, he stopped texting me frequently. I can’t share this with my siblings and friends as all of them wants me to end the relationship if parents are not happy. I am equally not happy right now. Maybe you are right I am overthinking.

Talked with him, it seems like he was hurt with whatever I send in text and he gave up consoling me thinking its always the same no matter how hard he tries to convince me. I can’t leave him. What would you do? The idea of leaving him seems like I am losing a part of mine. I can’t start my day without him even texting me. I am stuck right from the morning. My work and study life used to go well when we were happy going smoothly although it was distant. What I am thinking is I want to keep loving and being with him without my parents’ knowledge. So that no party is hurt. Seeking for advice.🙏
