I’m absolutely tired and completely drained emotionally and mentally. I broke up with my boyfriend of almost two years, early this year, because we were too far apart and because I found someone who then, had exact qualities as he does, and that is near. My ex boyfriend was everything to me. He loved me passionately and I did love him too. He reached out every single day, to make sure I’m fine and okay, encouraged me in my school works and always had a good idea, anytime I’m in doubt. Our relationship was so smooth that I often wondered what hardship people talked of in relationships. But, we only got to see once or twice in a whole year. So, I decided to let go and start a new relationship with my current boyfriend. He was all sweet and caring at the beginning. We saw each other at least 3 times a week, and I was quite happy, until school lecturers went on strike in March. At first, I would call every single day, check on him, and discuss stuffs, but as time went on, I realized he never reciprocated the actions. Two or three days would go by if I didn’t call. At a time, we didn’t communicate for over a week. He would blame it on being busy, with what he never told me. He never replies chats on time, and when he does, he goes offline almost immediately. It’s 8 months being apart now,and he has not for once, proposed plans for us to meet, things have grown really worse and each time I communicate my grievances, he apologizes, starts to care for a few days, before falling back again. I stopped calling, and it’s over a month now, since I last held a telephone call with my boyfriend! I really want to let go, but I don’t know how, as I won’t like to do this over the phone, neither do I want to propose plans for us to meet. it hurts the most, when I remember my ex, and how I had taken for granted, the love he showered me. Please help!

You are still emotionally connected to your ex boyfriend and it is affecting your present relationship. Is either you let go of the past and face the present without comparing the two or go back to the ex if possible or drop the two get through emotionally with your ex completely and begin a fresh relationship.
The heart is not the mind. Hence, the heart loves and the mind rationalized the way we love.
