Really tired of this long distance marriage of 4 years. Got married and my husband left me after a month to study in another country. Got pregnant with his child. Wasn’t there throughout my pregnancy but was there at the delivery.
Left 2 weeks after, he was there when our son was 8month and 1 year 3months old. The thing he tries to get in touch through WhatsApp text, calls and video but most times I do most of the check up. Wouldn’t even bother calling sometimes for a few days. Well covid happened and it’s been more than a year since he came back. He claims he loves me and he sometimes doesn’t have the time to call because he’s busy. Lol, i am busy as well and I have a job and I still try to create time to call or text him. I have complained about this attitude of his several times. I guess you can’t force someone to care for you. You can force a horse to drink when it’s not thirsty.
I don’t even know when he will come back to visit. We’ve been planning to get a visa for me and my child for more than a year now, yet to no avail.
I have a job and can take care of my son but I stay with my in-laws. I’m thinking of leaving this marriage. The long distance is hurtful and not to think of a partner that makes it worse. I am depressed!

Good evening madam marriage is full of sacrifice and fun I guess he is out of the country for greener pastures which may in turn help you and your child please find a good measure to get him understand that he is not doing too good in the aspect of checkups instead of thinking of divorce your child really needs a father.thanks.
You can talk to a counsellor too.

Long distance relationships takes it toll on people. Initially you may think is a piece of cake but then the reality sets in. I tell you from first hand experience get ready for more subtle bumpy roads ahead. For me the worst that happens is that 2 individuals who should learn to grow together and tolerate themselves grow apart over the years( unintentionally). So try as soon as possible to bridge this physical gap ( even when he communicates very often the physical nearness that is missing will affect the quality of the relationship. Let your partner understand this. Get him to commit to a dedicated time of the day for FaceTime or any other means to stay connected. This is of utmost importance otherwise he may finally get his green pastures at the detriment of whatever that held you both together. Also be aware that you may be meeting a total stranger by the time there is a reunion as both you and him would have changed. So be mentally ready to cope with the adjustment period. It is really not the best of all situations I can tell you that. But circumstances we cannot help does that to us. So to survive a long distance relationship you must learn to be very independent.
