Alot of people are living and trying to cope with depression in our society and our parents do not even take us seriously when we tell them. They would be like what are you thinking that would make u depress and when i told my mum that i was depressed cause of the many things am thinking about she said i should go jump on the lagoon but i understand cause not many parents in Nigeria understand what it means to be depressed and a when someone is depressed doesn’t necessarily mean they are weak. I have been fighting depression since 2014 until i lost my father to cancer 2016 then it became worst and though i have done a good job of fighting on my own but it hasn’t been easy.
I can’t exactly tell you how it started but its just there and i have lost count of how many times i have tried to hurt myself and even when am suppose to be happy i still myself drowning in sadness and its like i enjoy the pain i feel. I am no longer fighting i wud just stay and see how long i can be in control.
