Hello, please I need help!!!
I have been dating a guy for 5 years now. He has anger issues which he is consciously working on now. These anger issues made him abuse me mentally, physically, and sexually. It got really bad that I stopped respecting him. I had my issues with not giving total submission from the beginning. We got worse, even to the point where another lady came in as a distraction to him. But he still did not want to lose me. Then, I broke up with him and he started begging seriously. Always crying and all. It was now as if he was going crazy; anytime I tell him I want out, he’ll become violent to me, but the moment I just say okay, let’s come back, he’ll just calm down like they poured cold water on him. It’s been two weeks since I escaped from his house (I was there for 4 months as I was having accommodation issues) and he has been begging seriously, crying since then till now that I come back to him. He explained the reason why he got violent; he said it was as a result of the hurt from his last relationship. He said he gave his ex his all, respect, and all that and all she did was disrespect him and control him. As his eyes began to open as a result of people around him in the university, he gradually became hostile to her.He saw me as a very submissive lady and asked me out. It took me 3 months before I could give him a yes. Now, he is begging seriously, started therapy sessions as i earlier advised him, now very prayerful and faithful to church activities and ignoring all my unintentional attempts to make him angry. Please I need advice now. I want to do the right thing

Thanks a lot for taking out time to share your thoughts and to advice me.Do you think I should give myself space? cos of the thought and fears of what happened in the past. my friends told me to have a break and have some space but he is saying space is ñot a good idea and our affections for each other may decline

Sometimes space makes both parties really miss each other and creates value,so yes space is needed.
