Hey.
I’m 21 years old (Female).
I’ve been having series of recurring nightmares which are always frightening.
I cry from my sleep at times when the pressure in these scary dreams gets intense.
I always dream of planes crashing into my roof or someone else’s.. causing a fire that spreads all over the place and I’m always the heroine (Trying to save one person or the other).
The location changes, characters and time zone but the situation is same.
This has caused a lot of damages to my health and life. I wake up early just to stare at the walls in my room till morning, I don’t have good sleep anymore.
These nightmares show up twice every month, if it doesn’t, then it’s just once!
I’m tired of looking for a solution to this.
I don’t know what to do anymore…
Other dreams follow suit but then, this particular one is worse because it keeps reoccurring.
Please, y’all help me find out what’s wrong!
I don’t have money to go to a therapist but I’m sure there must be someone who is experienced and can help me find a solution or a reason to why this nightmare keeps reoccurring.
Thanks.

    Hello.

It is possible that you get these nightmares as a result of past traumatic events you may have experienced, so you need to identify what triggers you. Also, high level stress and anxiety from work or daily life’s problems can cause one to have nightmares. Medications like antidepressants; alcohol and drug use can also disrupt sleep and cause nightmares as a result of the side effects of the medication.

To help reduce the reoccurrence of nightmares, it is important to practice healthy sleep habits, such as creating a comfortable sleep environment, it may also be helpful to address any underlying stress or anxiety through therapy. And through the help of the therapist, medications might be recommended to help you manage those nightmares.

It may take time but through consistent effort, the severity of your nightmares can reduce, and you will improve your sleep and overall well-being.
