Sometimes I feel like I’m not good enough. I’m insecure and it’s really hard to admit. These feelings affect me in class, among friends, in relationships and even at home with my family. Sometimes it feels like no matter how many times I’m told that there’s nothing wrong with me I don’t believe it. I think that somewhere, something is wrong.

I’m messed up, my insecurity has pushed me to the point where I stalk people online and compare myself endlessly and even give myself reasons why this person is better than me. And I think this is one of my biggest problems now, the fact that I get obsessed with people, stalk them and continuously compare myself to them and hurt my own feelings.

It’s common to feel insecure and compare ourselves to others from time to time, but if it’s a persistent issue for you, then you need to address it.

First, try to recognize and challenge negative self-talk. When you find yourself comparing yourself to others or feeling insecure, ask yourself if those thoughts are really true. Often, our negative self-talk is based on distorted perceptions of reality. Also, focus on your own strengths and accomplishments. Make a list of your achievements and remind yourself of them when you’re feeling down.

Also, try to limit your exposure to social media and other sources of comparison. Social media can be a breeding ground for comparison and feelings of inadequacy, so it’s important to take breaks or set boundaries as needed.

Finally, consider seeking support from a therapist or counselor that can help you work through your insecurities and develop strategies for building your self-esteem; you are unique and have your own strengths and talents. Comparing yourself to others only leads to frustration and dissatisfaction; focus on your own journey and progress and celebrate your own successes along the way.
