I am 19years old and I have a male childhood friend I had a crush on when I was 14 and he was aware of it.
Now he’s back and tells me he loves me, I don’t want to loose my friend but I am in the uni and I don’t need a relationship as a distraction which I told him about.
I cut him off sometimes ago but we’ve started communicating now and he’s still the same.
Each time we chat he uses endearments like love and sweetheart and I can’t even decipher what relationship we have.
How can I go about this cause I don’t want to loose my friend and a relationship isn’t what I need now?

Hello.
You need to be honest and tell him what you want. If you really do not want to commit to a relationship now because it will be a distraction to your academics. You need to have a talk with him; you could talk about why you don’t want to be in a relationship and why you think it will ruin your friendship and you wouldn’t want that. An honest conversation will help you both handle your feelings and also decide on how to go forward.
