I’m a 24 year old female and have a low self esteem, among my friends and family members I’m the least beautiful because of this I tend to study harder, so even if I’m not the prettiest at least I should be the smartest, but being smart doesn’t attract men first, it’s beauty, always beauty, if I’m walking with my friends, they get all the attention and I’ll be at the sideline, waiting for them, just earlier this year I have three invitations to my girlfriends weddings, of which I’m older than two of them, I’m not even in a relationship and because I have this revelation that I’m going to end up single and alone, I’m trying to force myself to like someone who I know on a normal I won’t talk to, just because he’s interested in me, I just don’t want to be alone and I want to feel beautiful, I’m always the last girl to be admired in the group, I’m just the spare ugly friend they bring along, I hate it, I hate this, I just want to be loved, be called beautiful, be chosen first….is it too much to ask?

    Hello dear.

Firstly, it is important you focus on your strengths instead of your flaws. Know that beauty comes in different forms and not just about physical appearance because you have what makes you special in your own way.

Struggling with low self-esteem can be really challenging and it is possible to improve on it by practicing self-care, being gentle with yourself and having the right people around to lean on for support like a friend, family member or a therapist.

Also, having a strong sense of self-worth and confidence can be an attractive quality to others. Focus on building your self-esteem and the rest will fall into place in due time.

I’m sorry we live in a society that places women’s worth on how they look. I know you must feel frustrated and I don’t have a solution that’s gonna fix everything but I’ll suggest trying to find things that make you happy. Focus on those things and learn to live with yourself because you can’t expect someone to love you if you don’t love you
