Im 34 and I’m battling with a gambling addiction. I make over 10 million naira a year but I struggle to save any amount. As nearly all of that income goes into online sports betting. I’m starting to sink into depression as my colleagues are achieving so much while I am struggling to attain my goals. I don’t know how much longer I can keep this up.
I genuinely felt scaling up my income will help change my bad habits but instead It it has made it worse. Now, It has gotten to the point where it’s affecting my romantic life as well as my social life. What’s funny is I’m blowing away the money I’m trying to make; when all I have to do is save it. But I keep chasing the euphoria of winning bets and thinking I’ll make millions from sports betting.

I’m really sorry to learn that you’re dealing with this difficult situation. It’s necessary to recognise how your dependency to gambling affects your life. The most important step in overcoming this addiction is to ask for support and assistance.
Seek advice from an addiction-focused therapist or counsellor, as well as connect with organisations or support groups or family/friends that can offer direction and help.
