I am a student in a university, here in Nigeria, I was never in the group of people that promised their parents first class or something like that, but everything changed when I got to know that first class students are always called for honours roll when new students are being matriculated into the university, and i kinda blame myself for not allowing my parent come for my matriculation[don't get me wrong, my parents are busy with their lives and I didn't want to bother them so much, Mom sells at the market(self owned), dad is currently a taxi-driver(on hired purchase), they both never completed university.] When I found out this, I instantly wanted to badly make a first class, so that I can invite my parents when I make the honours roll, I am doing well in my studies but things flipped a little bit after the semester of COVID, I didn't fail a course but i made a gpa of 3.5 that very semester, and life has been hell on me but i have been averaging on a first class gpa since then, but time goes on, i am feeling like i won't be able to make first class anymore and that make me depressed 😔 and i don't just know what to do, currently on 4.27 CGPA, with 3 semesters left to go. I am just scared that I am going to fail my words to my parents even though they are not kinda pushing me to the wall about making a first class. I don't know if there will be a comment session under this post, please you can give your advise, I'll really appreciate it
I can see you are putting a lot of pressure on yourself and you really want to make your parents proud. But, being able to get a 4.27 CGPA is something you should be really proud of, as it's not easy to achieve. Remember that your parents will always love you, irrespective o your academic achievement. Try to maintain a balance study and personal life.
Have you considered talking to your parents about your feelings and the pressure you are experiencing? They might offer you the reassurance and support you need right now.
thank you, I'll consider talking to them
