My name is taiwo and I’m 23years of age, I got married at the age of 19. My husband is now 34 years while I am 23. We have both been working things together since we got married. He usually beat me when we’re both dating even after our marriage but he is illiterate who doesn’t know how to read and write I have be the one carrying the responsibility since we got married. We’ve tried traveling out of the country for most times but we keep getting refused but now we plan on selling our building so we both start afresh by starting a business we can make money from but I’m not happy in this marriage my husband is type of man that get jealous easily and angry at every little things which resolve in beating me and cussing at me when he is angry but he loves me which is making me not to understand what to do anymore. My family is in support of me divorcing him and I do t know what to do if I should divorce because he really depends on me so much but we have no kids yet and I’m not happy in this marriage anymore. He usually tell me if I should leave him he would kill me and himself I don’t know what to do. I’m losing my mind
I am so sorry you're going through this, Taiwo. What you are describing is an incredibly dangerous situation. Being physically abused and threatened is not something you should ever have to endure, no matter how much your husband says he loves you. The thought of leaving him may seem difficult but don't you think you deserve to feel safe, respected and supported in your marriage?
i really want to run away for my safety because im losing myself in this so called marriage
Divorcing your husband might seem overwhelming especially since you have been within him since your early adult life but for your own safety and mental well-being, your may want to consider the options available to you. have you thought of counseling? or seeking legal counsel about how to go about the divorce, if you do decide?
