Hi,
Since COVID-19 struck and my exams got cancelled, I feel stuck in life. Let me start from the beginning.
Call me Q, I’m single, 27, and a medical doctor, finished my NYSC in March 2020 two weeks before lockdown. My plan was to write exams and relocate to UK, but my exams for June got cancelled due to pandemic. Since then every effort to book a slot has not been successful. I mistakenly cancelled a slot for November last year due to a clicking mistake, I haven’t been successful in any other booking slot since with the recent booking in March this year being cancelled due to the website crashing. I don’t want to further my education in Nigeria especially residency because it is a waste of time, not worth it, witchcraft and six years of mental trauma that I don’t want to subject myself to.
But I’m seeing my classmates getting ahead of me, getting awards, getting married, entering residency, travelling out, while I am stuck here, living with my parents, enduring my father’s daily passive aggressive insults and scornful looks(He’s also an accomplished medical doctor but now into politics). he believes I am wasting away my life, working as a medical officer in civil service when I could have relocated years ago. That I am doing nothing to help my career. Even my younger sister has relocated to Canada last year,my youngest is making plans to School in Germany, but all I do is go to work, eat, and spend days in my room. I’ve started avoiding him when the bullying got too much and started sleeping with my mum who keeps nagging me to get married but she doesn’t look at me with disdain or tell me that I’m a disappointment.
Why is everything going well for others and not me? I’ve never felt so stuck like this. I know I ought to do something but don’t know where to start from.
