Sometimes I feel like I’m carrying a weight no one sees. I had sex at a young age, and it’s something I regret every single day. I wish I could undo it, but I can’t. I cry often, wishing things were different. Recently, I almost repeated the same mistake, but I pulled away. I’ve never told anyone about this, so I’ve been holding the pain all alone. I don’t like how I lost my virginity, and the memory of his face still haunts me. It’s gotten so heavy that it’s even affecting my academics—I can’t focus the way I used to.

I am glad you are able to share this, carrying a pain like this can feel overwhelming. I understand why something like this can affect your emotional wellbeing or academic performance. It is normal to feel regret after such an experience but that does not make you less worthy of love or respect, it does not mean you have lost value. Have you considered seeking counselling? talking about it, especially since it is affecting your academic and daily life, could help you feel lighter. How about you try journaling? Writing to yourself so you can release the emotions and heaviness you feel can be really helpful.

I haven’t thought about talking to a counselor. I only write in my journal occasionally—it calms me for a while, but then I find myself reliving everything all over again.
